Robert Powers Adelberg, (Bob), 85, passed away on October 23rd at home in Louisville after two years battling Leukemia. Robert was born on July 30, 1937 in Louisville to Robert Edward Adelberg and Mary Milner Griggs Adelberg

He was an experienced commercial real estate broker, general lines insurance agent, president of Robert Adelberg Company Realtors and Insurance, and spent a lifetime in community volunteer service. He was a proud graduate of St. Xavier High School in 1955. He graduated from Georgetown University in 1959 with an Economics degree that included a junior year studying in French at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland. After active duty with the U.S. Coast Guard, he returned to Louisville where he joined his family real estate company. He retired from the Coast Guard Reserve as Lieutenant Commander after 11 years. He also spent time as a teaching Business School Graduate Assistant in real estate at Indiana University. He developed the Adelberg Company's insurance agency and was a licensed general lines insurance consultant. He served as a Director of the Louisville Area Chapter American Red Cross and was honored as a Life Board Member and a lifetime volunteer. He was a Director of the Bank of Louisville and BB&T Banks. Other Board service included the Louisville Regional Airport Authority, Fund for the Arts, Louisville Orchestra, Filson Historical Society, Louisville Central Area, and as a founding board member of Kentucky Science Center. He served as Kentucky 3rd District Republican Chair and member of the Kentucky State Republican Party Executive Committee 1984-90 and was a member of the University of Louisville Athletics National Anthem Selection Committee. He was an active supporter and facilitator for the Louisville chapter of US TOO International and Friend for Life cancer survivor networks as a Prostate Cancer survivor since 1994. Robert's musical avocation began as a church choir member while he was in Coast Guard Officer Training in 1964 - a second excuse to leave base each week for rehearsals at church. It blossomed into many opportunities to share his voice including National Anthems for U of L and other athletic events, 7 minor principal roles for Kentucky Opera, bass singer for the Louisville Bach Society and Louisville Master Chorale, and familiar soloist for religious services and civic events. He was a devoted father who sought to instill his competitive spirit in his children sometimes even coaching their t-ball, softball and soccer teams. He was engaged in their other activities from dance and musical productions to basketball, swimming, field hockey, track, golf and numerous horse sporting events. He loved taking ski trips with family and friends and always made the most of every opportunity to travel. He loved the distinction of living at the same address in the Highlands for 82 years.

Robert is survived by his wife of 53 years, Cynthia Mink Adelberg and three children; Amy Marie Adelberg, M.D. of Denver, CO, and her children Parker Griggs Wehrman, Sloane Genevieve Wehrman and Connor Broderick Wehrman; Abby Cecile Adelberg (Francis R.
