Jerry Oneil Sherrod was born Oct. 8, 1934, in Philadelphia, Miss., (Neshoba County) to the late Hector C. Sherrod and Sudie Hudson Sherrod. He was a resident of Jackson County for 55 years. He died Oct. 8, 2007, at Singing River Hospital, Pascagoula, Miss.
Jerry accepted Christ as his personal savior under the leadership of Dr. John W. Davis Sr., The Greater Anti-och Baptist Church. He was a member of the usher ministry, Lodge No. 485 Masonic Mason ILATJocaT 1T5,2, employed by Ingalls Shipbuilding, June 1, 1962— retired July 7, 1997. He received the long service award. He was married to the late Emma Jean Brown Sherrod.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Emma Jean Sherrod; his parents, Heqtor and Sudie Sherrod.
Survivors include three loving sisters, Donner Marie Sherrod Alien of Pascagoula, Erma Lee Sherrod Cooks and Haver Lene Sherrod Leach, Both of Jackson, Miss.; one loving brother, Turner Gene Sherrod of Jackson; two step-daughters, Lenora Chester and Patricia Sellers; two step sons, Houston Brown and Herman Brown; aTTBrtr Catherine-' (Douglas) Harris of Jackson, four nieces,-' three nephews; three grea't^Uieces; six great-nephews, a host of step-grand and great-grandchildren, cousins, other family and friends; special friends, Wayne (Jean) McCann, Madie and James Hand-shaw.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007, at The Greater Antioch Missionary Baptist Church from 11 to 1 p.m. with Dr. John W, Davis Sr. officiating.
Interment will be held at Scranton Cemetery, Pascagoula.
Turner's Gulf Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
