Robert died sometime between 1 June 1870 (Census date) and 1880.

His first wife's name is believed to be Jane Johnson. According to Robert's 1830 census for Madison County, Alabama, they had at least two children. He married his second wife in about 1847, they had at least 10 children. Mary was buried at the Baptist Cemetery in Lipan, Texas.

Children: Susan, Emma, Franklin, and Spencer's burial locations are unknown.
