Janis Eleanor (Ayer) Hodgdon was called to the arms of her heavenly father on the morning of June 7 at her home in Waldo.

Janis was born Aug. 1, 1951, in Quincy, Mass. She graduated from Mount View High School. Janis enjoyed scrapbooking with The Holy Scrappers and Meg's Memory Keepers, attending weekly Bible Study, and was a joyful member of the Swanville Community Church. She was passionate about softball, her grandchildren, flower gardening and had an amazing smile and sense of humor.

Janis will be sadly missed by her loving husband and best friend Walter A. Hodgdon Jr. of Waldo; her sons David M. Hodgdon and his wife Tiffany M. Hodgdon of Belfast, Daniel M. Hodgdon of Waldo, and Nicholas A Hodgdon and Meghan Porter of Carmel; her grandchildren Brittani N. Hodgdon, Christian M. Hodgdon, Kaleb D. Hodgdon, Ashley M. Hodgdon, Brandon M. Hodgdon, Corey D. Hodgdon and their mother Pamela M. Emerson of Swanville, Taylor M. Holmes of Skowhegan, Amarianna L. Hodgdon, and Lindsey-Joe E. Hodgdon; a great-grandson Connor M. Green; a brother John (Jack) Ayer and his wife Ruth Ayer of Brooks,; and several nieces and nephews as well as many loved friends and her church family.

Janis was predeceased by her parents John and Katherine Ayer and a step mother Reba "Paulie" Ayer.

A memorial service honoring Janis will be held June 20 at 10:30 a.m. at the Swanville Community Church, with a celebration of life following at the residence of Walter A. Hodgdon Jr. in Waldo at 1 p.m.
