Elry A. Farison, 68, of 750 S. M-30, Gladwin, died Sunday, January 14, at his home. Born in N. Baltimore, Ohio, September 18, 1904, he came to Benzie County, Michigan in 1914 and to Midland in 1916.

He worked for the Midland County Road Commission for 11 years and for the Wolverine Power Company as a hydroelectric plant operator for 27 years, retiring in 1970. He came to Gladwin County in 1960. He was employed as a security officer by the Pinkerton Detective Agency in 1971-72 at Brown Machine in Beaverton and a store in Midland. He was presently working at the Muma Sawmill in Roscommon.

Elry married Catherine Leona McFarlane on June 23, 1927. Together they had 6 children (Ellen, Douglas, Leah Ruth, Marjorie, Shirley, Ione).

Mr. Farison and the former Marion Walsh were married in Mt. Pleasant December 22, 1941.

Surviving are his wife, Marion; 10 children, Mrs. Clarence (Ellen) Brown of Sanford, Douglas Farison of Rosebush, Mrs. Paul (Ruth) Nimphie and Mrs. Marjorie Fruchey of Beaverton, Mrs. Don (Shirley) Foreman of Gladwin, Mrs. John (Ione) Grady of Sault Ste. Marie, Mrs. Joseph (Alta) Hedrich and David Farison of Gladwin. Step-sons James Berthume of Midland and Robert Berthume of Sanford; his mother, Mrs. Nettie Farison of Midland; a sister, Mrs. Fern Pomranky of Midland; three brothers, Homer of Beaverton, Robert of Sanford, and Ernest of Battle Creek; 47 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Services were held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Beaverton Church of God, of which he was a member, with the Rev. Lester Kline officiating. Burial was in Ridge Cemetery. Arrangements were made in Mathews Funeral Home.
