Kenneth Ausley Farison, 18, son of Mr. & Mrs. Elry Farison of Buckeye Township, was killed by a hit-run driver early Sunday morning on M-61 in Bay County.

Young Farison was hitchhiking to his work in a Standish gas station when he was struck by a vehicle about a mile east of the Gladwin-Bay County line.

The body was found on the south side of the road at 1:20 a.m. by a passing motorist. The coroner believed he was struck shortly before. His identification and personal papers were nearby.

Farison had ridden to the county line with another driver and let off, and apparently walked about a mile. State Police said they were following a lead concerning the driver of the hit-run car.

Services were held today (Wednesday) at 1 p.m. at the Beaverton Church of God with the Rev. Kenneth Tabor and the Rev. Raymond Brokaw officiating.

Born March 3, 1948, in Gladwin, he lived his whole life in Gladwin County. He attended the Beaverton Church of God.

Survivors besides his parents, include four brothers, Douglas of Rosebush, David of Saginaw, James Berthume of Midland and Robert Berthume of Sanford; six sisters, Mrs. Alta Walters and Mrs. Shirley Foreman of Gladwin, Mrs. Ellen Brown of Midland, Mrs. Ruth Nimphie and Mrs. Marjorie Fruchey of Beaverton, Mrs. Ione Grady of Sault St. Marie; and his grandmothers Mrs. Violet Walsh of Independence, MO., and Mrs. Nettie Farison of Midland.
