Alvin Huxman passed away November 8, 2022.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Lydia; his six siblings: Milton, Victor, Irene, Marvin, Millie and Dale; his son Wayne; and his great-granddaughter Lyra.

His survived by his wife Arlene; brother-in-law, Merlin (Laverta Moody) Krehbiel; sisters-in-law, Letha Warkentin and Bessie Huxman; children Marilyn (Leon) Regier, Alan (Patty) Huxman and Dean Huxman; grandchildren: AJ Regier, Matthew (Joanna) Regier, Andrew (Carolyn) Regier, Lucas Regier, and Kate (Andrew Corrubia) Huxman; great-grandchildren: Alyssa, Micah, Anna, Caden, Megan, Lizzie, Abby, Luke, Kaleigh, and Simon.

Alvin was born on March 31, 1929 and grew up working on the family farm west of Pretty Prairie and helping neighboring farmers. He graduated from Pretty Prairie High School in 1948.

On November 7th, 1951, Alvin joined the Army and served in the Korean Conflict as a member of the Prisoner of War Command at the Kojedo prison camp. He was honorably discharged on October 28th, 1953.

Returning home, Alvin took a job for Santa Fe shops in Wichita, where he met and married Arlene Kaufman (Krehbiel) on July 16, 1956. Together they raised four children.

In 1962, the family moved to Topeka KS where Alvin finished 37 years as a carman for the Santa Fe Railroad. Upon retirement, Alvin and Arlene returned to Pretty Prairie in 1994 where they were active in the community as well as the Pretty Prairie 1st Mennonite Church where they were members. Alvin and Arlene also delivered meals for the Senior Center.

Alvin was an expert welder and enjoyed carpentry and engineering creative solutions for his garage. His family remembers his sharp pool skills, his love of cars, his harmonica collection, and his wry sense of humor.

Memorials may be made with Mennonite Friendship Communities in care of Livingston Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15 at the First Mennonite Church in Pretty Prairie. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. Burial will be at the First Mennonite Church Cemetery.
