He was born October 28, 1894, in Ste. Genevieve, a son of the late Anton and Mary Thomure Scherer. He was married Nov. 22, 1923 to Grace Emma Panchot, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Scherer was a veteran of World War I and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2210 and American Legion Post 150.
He is survived by four of his ten brothers and sisters, Bill, Walter, Arthur, and Mrs. Gerald Bleckler, all of Ste. Genevieve; Deceased are brothers John, Joseph, Ernest, Emmanuel and Richard, and a sister, Elvina.
The remains lay in state at Stanton-Wood Mortuary. Services were conducted at the Church of Ste. Genevieve on October 24, at 9:00 am, and interment followed at Calvary Cemetery at Valle Spring.
