RUTH FENELON
Ruth Ranger Fenelon, who was born in Northwest Woods, East Hampton, died Sunday at her house on Oak Lane, Amagansett. She was 71 and had suffered from heart disease. Mrs. Fenelon was the daughter of the former Fannie Ryder and William Bennett, and was born on their farm in Northwest, one of the last in that area. She was raised there until her family left that homestead near Northwest Creek to live on another family farm on Cedar Street. Following graduation from EasHampton High School she married James Fenelon of Sag Harbor. He died 20 years ago. Visiting with friends and family and travel were her chief enjoyments, her family said. Trips to the Grand Canyon and to Florida were the among her happiest memories and she had toured several European countries in September, a trip she was said to have ooked forward to for some time. A funeral service is to be held today at 2 p.m. at St. Michael's Church in Amagansett, where Mrs. Fenelon was an active member. The Rev. Robert L. Endruschat will officiate, with the assistance of the Rev. Leonard Torcello, a past astor of St. Michael's who is related to Mrs. Fenelon. Burial will follow at the Oakland Cemetery in Sag Harbor. She is survived by her children, James P. Fenelon of Fort Pond Boulevard, Springs, Wayne B. Fenelon of Rutland Road, also of Springs, and Louis G. Fenelon of the Montauk Highway, Amagansett. Six grandchildren also survive. The family has suggested memorial contributions to the Amagansett Ambulance Squad. The East Hampton Star., February 14, 1985, page 2
