Vivian J (Cornwell) Williams, 88, of Portsmouth, went to her home in Heaven on November 12th at SOMC. She was born on July 13, 1934, to the late Arland and Mary (Frazier) Cornwell.

She was a proud 1952 graduate of Glenwood High School where she lettered in cheerleading. She later went on to be the secretary for the New Boston school system for several years and then served on the Alumni Association Committee for many years as well. She was an active and faithful, charter member of the New Boston First Church of The Nazarene where she served in many capacities until her recent passing. Two of her favorite pastimes were reading and watching The Ohio State Buckeyes football games.

She is survived by her daughter, Anita Payne, and husband Brian of Lucasville, her son, Aaron Williams, and his wife Jamie of Portsmouth, a brother Gerald Cornwell of Lucasville, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings Faye Glass, Wanda Smith, and Ron Cornwell. In honor of her wishes, there will be a private graveside service under the direction of DW Swick Funeral Home with Pastor Mikeal Lanning officiating. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her honor to New Boston First Church of The Nazarene 3962 Rhodes Avenue, New Boston, Ohio 45662. A heartfelt "Thank You!" to Dr. J. Patel and the staff for their regular and kind care over the years and also to the several staff at SOMC that gave her excellent, attentive care during previous stays and especially as of late. Many were drawn to her because of her kind spirit, warm smile, and spunky sense of humor. She will be deeply missed by all.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family directed by the D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in New Boston with Interment to follow at Universal Cemetery in Rubyville.
