Willie Lee was born on July 5, 1928, in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, the daughter of Wallace and Nellie (Hassel) Godfrey. She was raised in Elizabeth City. On March 21, 1954, she married Irwin Richard Aalberts in Elizabeth City. They made their home in Orange City, where she was a homemaker. "Squirt" passed away on May 14, 1965, in Orange City. Mrs. Aalberts then became the manager of the windmill branch of the Northwestern State Bank in Orange City.
On December 31, 1993, she married Jacob Leroy Van Rooyen in Orange City, where they continued to live. In May of this year, she moved to the home of one of her daughters. Mrs. Van Rooyen was a member of the Trinity Reformed Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, "Jack"; two daughters, Bonnie Overman, of Hull; and Barb, and her husband, Warren Jager, of Arnolds Park; five grandchildren, Greg Aalberts; Tim Jager; April, and her husband, Steve De Kam; Sarah Jager; and Tracy, and her husband, Eric Punt; a great-grandson, Cole Punt; a sister, Audrey Collette, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; a special aunt, Iris Jones, of Elizabeth City; six step-children and their spouses, many step-grandchildren, and several step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael Aalberts; and a son-in-law, Wesley Overman.
