It is with bittersweet joy that we announce that Betty Jean Acton has graduated from this earthly realm into her Heavenly home. After all we are spiritual beings having a human experience and not the other way around. She passed peacefully and took her first breath of Heaven's air with her eldest son at her side Sunday morning November 13, 2022.

Betty entered this world in Decatur Alabama on April 22, 1943, the first child of Benjamin & Florence Cox. She soon welcomed siblings Benny, Jimmy, Beverly & Johnny. It didn't take long before she was helping to raise her brothers & sisters from her early teens. The Cox family eventually migrated to the great state of Texas to settle in the Ft Worth area. While working in the ticket booth of the famous Worth movie theater, part theater row on 7th Street, she caught the eye of Joe Bob Acton. It was the beginning of a romance that included her trying to live back to Alabama only to find him endlessly pursuing her to marry him. They would go on to marry, move to Burleson to which Betty would reside 57 years and start a family of their own.

Betty was the devoted mother to three adoring children Benjamin, Bryan and Angela. She was Southern woman in all the best ways. Betty loved to cook and had the gift of hospitality. She was fun loving but could be sweet as honey or sour as grapes depending on what the circumstances called for. Betty was hard working & determined and strived to be the best at whatever she did. Growing up with three athletic brothers, Betty too had a passion to compete. Despite her small stature she was on an all state high school basketball team. She also loved to play slow pitch softball from her 20's well into her 40's. She was an avid bowler who participated in league and tournament play. Betty went on to coach her daughters softball teams, be a school room mother and a band booster officer. She had two lengthy rewarding careers. Betty worked for Tandy/Radio Shack for 32 years. Once she retired she then took on a part time administrative position with Mid South Roller where she worked another 15 years only retiring due to recent declining health at the young age of 79. She had a multitude of loving friends from both work families. Whether she was the supervisor or rank in file coworker, she was a rock and a sudo mother to many. There was no quit in this determined, strong willed Southern lady! Betty was a faithful servant who volunteered at the Open Door Food Bank, tithed to church regularly and donated to many charitable causes. You will be hard pressed to find a more selfless giver than Mrs. Acton. She was the sweetest, kindest & most caring daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother to her family who love her dearly.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents and younger brother Benny. Her husband of 53 years, Joe Bob departed this earth in 2017. She is survived by her three children Benjamin, Bryan and Angela & her husband John. She was "Gran" to her three grandchildren Alisha Lemons, Landon & Chase Salzwedel. She is also survived by her remaining siblings, Jimmy & his wife Debbie, Beverly and Johnny & his wife Victoria as well as sister in-law Lesa Cox. Betty is survived by an extended family of loving in-laws, nieces, nephews & cousins. She was blessed to have many longtime friends and an endearing church family.

Betty will be deeply missed but she found peace in the promise that we will all see her again someday… In lieu of flowers please make a donation to SPARK Worldwide @ sparkworldwide.org
