Brian Cook, age 66, passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at his home in Decorah, IA.

A Celebration of Brian's life will be held at Oneota Country Club on Thursday, November 17, 2022, from 4:30–8:30 p.m. There will be a service from 4:30–5:30 to reflect on Brian's life.

Burial will be at Washington Chapel Cemetery outside of Janesville, IA (1-mile west of Neita Raceway) on Friday, November 18, 2022, at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers; memorials may be directed to the family at 103 Meadow View Dr. Decorah, IA 52101.

Brian Gene Cook was born on November 27th, 1955, in Waterloo Iowa, to Marlys and Cecil Cook. He grew up in Cedar Falls, Iowa, with his brother, and sister.

Brian graduated from Cedar Falls high school in 1974, where he participated in football, cross country, basketball, wrestling and track. He was a part of a record breaking 2-mile relay team, that was an Iowa State Championship relay team.

After high school, Brian attended Wartburg College where he played on the football team, ran track, and where he also met his wife, Susan.

Brian and Susan were married on June 3rd, 1978.

After they got married, they lived in Cedar Falls where Brian worked for Black Hawk Construction and then Cardinal Construction.

While they lived in Cedar Falls, they had 3 children.

In 1997, Brian and the family moved to Decorah and started Cook Construction. In 2008 Brian started working for Wicks construction where he retired in 2019. Following retirement, he finally found his true passion in life, driving the school bus for Decorah school district.

Brian was a member of the Elks club and was an E.R.

He enjoyed being a part of the Planning and Zoning Committee of Decorah and he was a member of Oneonta Country Club.

Brian was an avid Phillies, Steelers, and Golden State Warriors fan. He was recently blessed to attend the Phillies world series with his brother Brad and meet one of the owners of the Phillies.

Brian is preceded in death by his dad: Cecil Cook. Mother and Father in-law: Irene and Loyd Steuart. Sister-in-law: Cindy Steuart. Brother-in-law: Bob Hesse.
