Age 44, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Sharpsville, passed away peacefully in Shadyside Hospital, on Saturday evening, Nov. 12, 2022, after a courageous fight with cancer. Born in Sharon, PA, on Jan. 21, 1978, to James Kostra and Rita Rice, he married. A graduate of Sharpsville High School in 1996, he earned his BS, MS, and Doctor of Education in Exercise Physiology from the University of Pittsburgh, where he was employed as an Exercise Physiologist. Most of his experience and research was working with the geriatric population and veterans. Jim ran the Gerofit program at the Pittsburgh VA Medical Center. An avid Pitt fan, he loved outdoor activities, hosting events, movies and spending time with friends and family. In addition to his wife; a daughter; grandmother; a stepfather; a sister; a nephew; in-laws; brother-in-law; and a niece survive. His father, James Kostra; mother, Rita Rice; grandparents, Bill and Alberta Kostra, and Pat Holter, preceded Jim in death.
