Kelley was born March 24, 1962, in Swainsboro to Christopher Kelley Thompson and Patsy F. Thompson. He was preceded in death by his father; maternal grandparents, Rudolph and Martha Fields; paternal grandparents, Linwood and Mary Thompson.
Kelley attended Swainsboro High School, earned his GED, and later enlisted in the U. S. Navy. After 3 years of duty, he was honorably discharged for health reasons.
He worked in several businesses in the Douglas area for years before ultimately finding his way back to Swainsboro. Along with faithfully caring for his parents, he found his true passion in a position with Emanuel County Animal Shelter. His love and compassion for animals never wavered, and there was never a dog or cat his didn't
