A coroner's verdiet of death by self-inflicted gunshot would was recorded by Tom Lilly, Justie of the peace in precinct one, Wednesday morning in the death of Bonnie Spradley 54.
Mr. Spradley died Monday morning, December 21, about 7 o'clock as the result of a shotgun blast which entered his right ear and came out the top of his head. He was at his home in the Jordan's Quarters off the Douglass highway at the time.
Bill Roberts, city policeman, who investigated the incident with Charles Christian, constable in precint one, said the body, the gun, and the angle of the wound indicated that it was self-infliced. Reltives said Mr. Spradley was in ill health and had been despondent for some time, threatening repeatedly recently to do away with himself.
Funeral services for Mr. Spradley were held Tuesday December 22, 1953, 2 o'clock at Alazan with the Rev. G.W. Nelson, Baptist minister, officiating. Interment was in the Alazan cenetery.
Mr. Spradley was the son of Patrick Henry & Mary Katherine (Stone) Spradley.
