James Arthur Bill, Sr. died November 21, 2022 at the age of 90.

James was born on February 15, 1932 to Harold and Jennie (Wheaton) Bill in Atlanta, NY. After school, James went on to serve in the United States Army. During his time in the Army, he served in the Korean War.

While stationed in Washington, James met Barbara Ellon Tracy. After his service in the Army, James and Barbara relocated to North Cohocton, and later Arkport, NY. They went on to have three children: Ellon (Michael) Canale, James "JB" Bill, Jr., and Jo Ann (Bryan Grenn) Bill, who survive.

James was employed as a delivery man for Millbrook Bread Company in Hornell, NY. Later on, he drove wreckers for Elsenheimer Chevrolet and school bus for Arkport Central School. James was a former Arkport Ambulance and Fire Department Volunteer, a member of the Arkport American Legion, and a regular patron of both the Texas Cafe in Hornell and the Village Cafe in Arkport.

James was predeceased by his wife, Barbara, on June 17, 2001. In addition to his three children, he is survived by his partner, Delia "Dee" Beyea; his beloved six grandchildren: Erin (Jeff) Agan, Megan (Matt) Glor, Jody Bill, Jessica (Ryan) Flynn, Jamie (Kevin) Pacanowski, Quinn Bill-Grenn; six great-grandchildren: Colin and Chloe Agan, Rosalie and Jacqueline Glor, and Cecilia and Jordan Pacanowski. James was one of twelve children. He was predeceased by Gordon, Ruth, Leta, Harold, Roger, Jean, Marian, Allen, Joan, and Susan; he is survived by one brother, Charles (Kathy) Bill, and several nieces and nephews.

Known for his artistic skill, hardworking nature, and sense of humor, James will be missed and remembered for the love of his family. He enjoyed seeing his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, mowing lawns, woodworking, puzzles, and country music.

Friends and family may call on Friday, November 25, 2022 from 12PM to 2PM at Walter E. Baird & Sons Funeral Home in Wayland with a funeral service at 2PM. Full military honors will take place at the conclusion of the service at Clearview Cemetary in North Cohocton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the VA Medical Center, 76 Veterans Avenue, Bath NY 14810 in memory of James A. Bill, Sr.
