Matriarch of our small but significant family has fought her final battle on this Earth. Mom/Grand has succumbed to a second hemorrhagic stroke which she suffered on Friday November 18, 2022, and which she came to her final and most peaceful breath on the afternoon of Sunday November 20, 2022, with Evan and Rick holding her hands letting her know that it was okay to leave us to be with Grandfather.

Linda was the youngest of four children born to Ethel Florence Selbach-Reeder (1909-1991) and L. Wayne Reeder (1902-1975), being born on October 10th, 1945. As an infant and through kindergarten she resided on Flagg St. in Whitesboro, New York, and from the time of first grade at Main Street School and until the time of her marriage, Linda resided with her family at their 314/316/318 Main St., Whitesboro, New York home.

Linda was a 1963 graduate of Whitesboro Central School District and later was a student at Mohawk Valley Community College. On Saturday August 28th, 1965, she was united in marriage to Richard E. Pugh at Saint John's Church on Main St. in Whitesboro, New York. Initially and for only a short period of time my mom and dad resided at a mobile home park on Oneida St. in Washington Mill, New York. In 1967, Wayne arranged for the mobile home in which Mom and Dad made their home at that tiny trailer park to be towed, with a farm tractor no less, all the way to its final resting place – my childhood home – at 322 Main St., Whitesboro, New York…closely and conveniently located near both, mom's parents and mom's big sister, Gayle.

Mom worked mostly in secretarial positions, beginning her married-time jobs with The Utica Steam Engine and Boiler Works of Utica in the late 1960's and into the early 1970's. She then found her most cherished and rewarding work in the real estate business, first with Elaine Ryder's agency and then, most fondly, with Nancy Waldron's agencies. Mom's final years of work, prior to her 1996, and first, hemorrhagic stroke, was at Utica National Insurance Company as a litigation secretary in the office of Tom Riordan. Although not necessarily a paying job, Mom was always a partner in our family business, Reeder's Service.

Linda served on the Whitesboro Central School Board of Education from the mid 1970's through the early 1980's, serving two terms as president. She was also a founding member, and treasurer, of the Whitesboro Historical Society, as well as a member of the Whitesboro Central School Alumni Association. Most proud of, she and Aunt Gayle discovered that their father's family were early settlers of what became the United State of America, coming aboard the ship Lyon arriving in the Massachusetts Colony in the year 1631, and through this lineage Linda and Gayle found they had a patriot-in-arms of the American Revolution, Simeon Lyman of Connecticut. Through patriot Lyman, Mom and Aunt Gayle became proud members of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Linda is survived by her son, Richard E. "Rick" Pugh, Jr., and his wife Michele; by her grandson, Grand's "…sunshine, her only sunshine," Evan Richard Pugh, and his girlfriend T Dell'Anno, with Evan who "…made her happy, when skies were gray" but he did know that Grand "…how much she loved him, dear"; and also by her brother Gary Reeder, and his wife, Marilyn and their girls Heidi and Tracy; by her sisters-in-law, Jane Pugh Mobley, and her son Mark (Leslie), and Sharon Pugh Smith Oliver, and her husband Whitney, and Sharon's children, Dan (Garrie) and Laura (Brian); and not least, her sister Gayle's children, Cindy, Chrissy (Mark), Patty (Rob), Brenda (Dave) and Brian; as well as the numerous offspring of Linda's nieces and nephews.

Linda was predeceased by her bestest and biggest brother Donald Wayne Reeder (1928-1949); her husband and devoted, selfless caregiver, Richard E. Pugh [Sr.] (1943-2018); her loving sister Gayle Ann Reeder Snyder (1934-2010); her brother-in-law, Paul "Pud" Snyder (1931-1993); her nephew, Michael Paul "Mike" Snyder (1958-2011); her nephew Gary "Scott" Reeder (1965-2015); her father-in-law, F. Wellington "Doc" Pugh (1915-1985); and her mother-in-law, Hazel E. Warcup Pugh (1915-1999).

I would also like to express my sincerest gratitude to Mom's loving, caring and gracious friends; Susie O'Donnell, Terry Smith, Mary Evans (deceased), Judy Mallozzi, Charlene Okuszki, Bud Link, Joe Bragg and Reverend Gerald Scott (also my father-in-law)…your compassion and assistance and help with Mom since her first stroke in 1996 is greatly appreciated. And, directly from Mom's pen & paper, her words "Thank-you for all you did to keep my days full and happy."

Most affectionately and thankfully, I would like to recognize two ladies who made my mother "…feel loved and blessed to have been known as Aunt Linda," Karen Leigh and Lauren Jenna…the Furlong girls who lit up my mother's world to no end. From my mother's pen & paper, in her words "[They] along with their husbands and children were special in so many ways." Thank-you Karen and Lauren, your love and admiration for my mother was exceptionally special.

Honoring my mother's wishes, there will be no calling hours. However, relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service on Wednesday, November 30th, at 6:30 PM, at Dimbleby Funeral Homes, Inc., 40 Main Street, Whitesboro. Mom/Grand/Aunt Linda would like family and her close friends to hold a get-together so that we may not cry, rather remember her for the amazing person that she truly was and which shall be announced at the funeral home service, commencing immediately following the service. Interment in Townsend Cemetery, Stittville, will be later, in the spring.
