Roy Fenton Gray

Roy Fenton Gray, 68, of 242 Cooper street, died at 10:20 in the Pekin Public hospital where he had been a patient for a week.

He was born at Versailles, February 27, 1888, a son of Enoch and Cynthia Langdon Gray. He was married to Grace Maude Thompson, who preceded him in death in January 1950.

He was occupied as an orchard worker for several years. Surviving by a former marriage are three daughters, Mrs. Juanita Havens and Mrs. Eliza Ballinger, both of Jacksonville, and Mrs. Cynthia Stuller of Burlington, Iowa. A step-son, Dale Woodward of Quincy; a half-brother, Elmer Hill and a half-sister, Mrs. Maude DeWeese, both of Pekin. 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren also survive.

The remains were brought to the Tarrant Funeral home and services were held there Sunday Sept. 9, at 1 p.m. Rev. Russell Ross of Chambersburg, was the officiating minister. Flowers were cared for by Rose Laughary, and Winifred Hartel. Pallbearers were Donald Brown, Arnold Brown, Wilmot Martin, Robert Lee Stuller, Russell Lerch and Dale Pool. Interment was made in the Gray cemetery at New Salem, Ill.
