Betty Mae Griffin Damron Garfield moved to the Lord's Mansion at 9:20 AM on Dec 30, 2021. She was born on November 17, 1923 in Yale, Oklahoma. Her parents were Elmer Jacob Griffin and Nellie Hooper. Betty married Junior Buford Damron on Oct 18, 1941 in Elk City, Oklahoma. Betty and Junior Buford had five children. Junior died on Feb 13, 1976 in Henderson. Betty remarried to Bill Garfield on April 20, 1977. Bill died on Feb 8, 1994.
Betty and Junior moved to the Henderson area prior to WWII, but returned to Oklahoma after the war started. After the war they returned to Henderson and Betty worked at the Dunes Hotel for two years from 1957 to 1959. She then started working at the Tropicana Hotel from 1959 until she retired in 1979. Her last position was as an Inspectress for the linen room.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, both her husbands and three daughters: LaDonna Golden, Betty Kae Damron and Linda Canfield; and one grandchild. She is survived by her daughter, Davonna Damron Guthrie who lives in Indianapolis, IN; brother, Junior Buford Damron Jr. who lives in Cleveland, TN.; 3 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren.
A visitation for Betty will be held Wednesday, January 12, 2022 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Palm Boulder Highway Mortuary, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015. Funeral services will be January 13, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Wagonwheel Missionary Baptist Church, 821 Cadiz Avenue, Henderson, NV 89015, Henderson, NV 89015. Betty will be laid to rest at Palm Henderson Cemetery at 11:30 AM, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015.
