South Jordan, Utah-Kenneth Austin Spencer, age 78 was born in Salt Lake City, UT, on December 16, 1943, to Hyrum Lamar Spencer and Glenda Winget, and passed away November 25, 2022. He grew up attending elementary, junior high, and high school in the Salt Lake area, graduating from Granite High School in 1962. Upon graduation he enlisted in the U.S Army Reserves, attended the University of Utah, and later graduated from B.Y.U. in 1969, in the College of Industrial and Technical Education with a secondary teaching certificate. In the summer of 1964, he met his sweetheart, Francene Nichols. They were married June 11, 1965, in the Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple.

Beginning September, 1969, Ken taught woodworking, along with various subjects, at South, Skyline, and Hunter High Schools retiring after 37 years of service. Throughout his career, he earned many professional awards and recognitions for excellence in teaching. His dedication to, and love for his students radiated throughout his career.

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ken served in many different callings including Elders, Sunday School, and Young Men Presidencies, bishop's counselor, bishop (his favorite), and Family History Research instructor.

Ken had many incredible talents, which he used to help others and make wonderful memories with friends and family. He loved to build things with his hands including homes, boats, campers, motor homes, and a helicopter with his sons. He also enjoyed golfing with family and friends as well. His most favorite times were spent on the slopes, teaching and skiing with his grandchildren.

Ken is survived by his wife, Francene; sons: Wade (Susan), Jaren (Mary Kay), Justin, Weston (Jenny), and daughter, Janae (David) Young; 20 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, Brother, LaMar Smith, and sister, Glenda Ledgard (John) along with many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, daughter Shari Spencer, brothers Ronald Spencer & Verl Smith, sister Carolyn Baker.

Visitation will be held Friday, December 2, 2022, 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Pkwy., South Jordan, UT. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 3, 2022, at 11:00 A.M., with a visitation from 10:00 to 10:50 A.M. at the South Jordan River Ridge 7th Ward, 10124 S. 1300 W., South Jordan, UT. Burial will follow at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, UT.
