Cathryne was born on Nov. 27, 1918, in Danville, the daughter of William and Lydia (Allen) Longer.
She is survived by her sister, Ruth Curry of Danville; nephew, John F. "Fritz" Morgan of Tilton; two nieces, Lindy Curry of Danville and Cindy Curry of Westville; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Frances McNeese.
Cathryne graduated from Danville High School. She was a manager of "The Fashion" in Danville for more than 40 years until she retired when the store closed. After retirement, she worked part time for Mag's Men's Wear until 2002. She was a member of Bowman United Methodist Church. She also was a member in the Zonta Club and the Business and Professional Women's Club, where she was a past president. She enjoyed golfing, shopping and anything to do with clothing. In her earlier years, she enjoyed traveling to Florida, England and Ireland.
A celebration of the life of Cathryne Elizabeth Bahls will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Dennis Divan officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13 at the funeral home. Entombment will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Park.
