Longtime Alaska resident Dodie Acton, 59, died Aug. 30 at her Anchorage home. A visitation was held at Kehl's Forest Lawn Chapel. A funeral was held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints, 11th Avenue and E Street, with Bishop Billy Nichols officiating. A burial service took place at Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene, Ore. Pallbearers were Howard Acton, Mike Acton, John Holden, Eddie Johnston, Don Pintar and Bob Shattles.
Mrs. Acton was born July 25, 1933, in Driggs, Idaho. She graduated from Murray High School in Murray, Utah. She had been a resident of Alaska since 1955. She lived in Kodiak from 1972 to 1975. Mrs. Acton had worked for Western-Delta Airlines for 20 years, during which time she held various positions, most recently secretary to the manager in the airport's customer-service department. Mrs. Acton was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Anchorage Women's Club. She and her husband enjoyed traveling. Her family said: "She was never too busy to help a friend. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her."
She is survived by her husband, Howard of Anchorage; her son, Michael of Anchorage; her daughters, Shauna of Tucson, Ariz., and Shelly of Anchorage; her mother, Rachel Johnston of Eugene, Ore.; her brothers, Don Pintar and Eddie Johnston of Anchorage, and Bill Johnston of Eugene; her sisters, Bonnie Martinson of Clinton, Utah, and Barbara Siddle of Eugene; and four grandchildren.
