Died, at his home, North Fourth street, Monday, Aug. 14, at 3 a.m., of pulmonary trouble, Henry S. Barron, aged 49 years. Mr. Barron was born in Yorkshire, England, May 14, 1844. He came to America with his parents in 1851, and settled in northern Illinois. He commenced his railroad career at the age of 16 years, and has been an employe of the Illinois Central for the past thirty-three years. He came to Springfield in February, 1889. He has been in poor health for the past four years, but would never give up his position as engineer on the Central, until about two weeks ago he was obliged to give up his engine, and was able to walk around home and go down town. Sunday afternoon he was able to sit out in front of his home and during the cool evenings of last week he contracted a cold.
He was a member of the Royal Arch Masons; Stephenson Post, G. A. R., and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers of division No. 31, of Clinton, Ill. He was a man of a most amiable disposition, and was always very patient and always willing and ever ready to take out his runs whenever he was requested to, and was very highly esteemed by all of his fellow employes. He leaves a wife and one son, Harry; also four brothers and four sisters.
