James Boyd Grinstead, 55, a three year Chesterton resident, formerly of East Chicago, died today at St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart, Indiana.

He was an employee of US Steel Corporation.

On April 4, 1926 he was born to William Gustave Grinstead (1904-1939) and Nellie (Kish) Grinstead (1906-1930) both of whom preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife, Emily (Beko) Grinstead; two daughters Jamie Grinstead of Chesterton and Emily Watroba of Schererville, Indiana; a son James J. Meeks of Chesterton; a sister Betty Melton of Portage, two brothers William Grinstead of California and Jack Tramm of Portage, Indiana; three grandsons; and step-parents Mr. and Mrs. Herman Creech of Illinois.

Arrangements are pending at Olson Funeral Home in Portage; and private burial will be made in Calvary Cemetery in Portage. Memorials may be made to St. Mary Medical Center.
