Anita Mae Anderson, age 76, of McFarland, passed away on Monday, Feb. 4, 2008, at HospiceCare in Fitchburg. She was born in San Francisco, where her parents took care of an aunt, on April 9, 1931, a daughter of the late George and Freda (Goldman) Osterndorff. They came back to Wisconsin when Anita was five, and lived on a farm near Linden. Anita graduated from Cobb High School in 1949, and she came to Madison to attend Groves-Barnhart Business College. She worked for Rennebohm Drug Store, and met Harry Anderson on Dec. 1, 1950. They were married on May 17, 1952. Anita helped Harry raise Victor, Carolyn and Betty. In 1953, Gary Ole Anderson joined the family. Anita worked at Gardener's Bakery for about 15 years. The family moved to McFarland in 1955, and Mark joined the family in 1965. Harry preceded Anita in death in 1988. In 1993, she married Marvin Notstad, who preceded her in death in 2000. Anita worked for Dane County Human Services for 28 years, retiring in 1993. Anita was a member of the McFarland Lutheran Church, and an active member of a women's circle there. She volunteered with the Dane County Food Pantry, worked with McFarland senior citizens, and was a longtime member of TOPPS. She is survived by her significant other, Karl Lang; son, Mark (Rosemary) Anderson; daughter, Betty Jacobson; adopted daughter, Kathy Jones; daughter-in-law, Paula Anderson; 16 grandchildren, Sonja (J.R. Morris) Anderson, Suzie (Tom) Grant, Victor Anderson Jr., Mari (Dale Corcoran) Jacobson, Erik (Staci) Jacobson, Janice Daly, Eric, Joshua, Blake, Victoria, Benjamin, Zachary and Matthew Anderson, Cybil Whitesel, B.J. (Carrie) Jones and Nina (John Hanevold) Jones; 14 great-grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; sister, Carol Glanville; brother, Ralf Osterndorff; sister-in-law, Phyllis Zemlicka; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; husband, Marvin; two sons, Gary and Victor Anderson; daughter, Carolyn Rice; brother, George Osterndorff; son-in-law, Richard Jacobson; and daughter-in-law, Nancy Anderson. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, at 11 a.m. at MCFARLAND LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5529 Marsh Road, McFarland, with the Rev. Jeffrey Tomberlin officiating.
