Sarah Jane Powley, 74, passed away on December 31, following a heart attack two weeks ago. Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon from the Gladwin Methodist church with the Rev. Truman S. Lowell, of the Assembley of God church, officiating. Burial was made in the Ridge cemetery.
Sarah Jane Bailey was born in Ontario, Canada on February 8, 1878. She came here with her parents at the age of three and lived on a farm north of Gladwin. She was married to Levil Powley on February 19, 1896, moving to Pontiac in 1923 and returning to Gladwin in 1947 when Mr. Powley retired from his work at the State Hospital. He preceded her in death on December 1, 1947. She was a member of the Gladwin Methodist church and the W.S.C.S.
Surviving are two sons, Elroy 'Pat' Powley and Donald Powley, both of Gladwin; two daughters, Mrs. Cassie Peters, of Gladwin and Mrs. Gladys Gauvin, of Elmwood, Wisconsin; a brother, John Bailey, of Ortonville; also a sister Mrs. Anna Foucha of Detroit.
