R/R crossing cash Friday November 20, 1967 fatal to Former Cleveland County Residents.

A truck-train crash at the Good Faith crossing on the Cotton Belt Railraod about 2 miles south of Pine Bluff on Friday morning, claimed the lifes of James Rushing age 32, and his two children, Jeanece Rushing age 10, and Carl Lyn Rushing,age 8, and his Uncle Jack Rushing, age 40.

James Rushing and his two children crossed the R/R tracks to pick his Uncle Jack up, and was about to cross the tracks again when they were hit by the Train. They were on their way to take the children to school and then on their way to work also.

A native of Cleveland County, the son of William Thomas (Tom) Rushing and Lillian Elizbeth Owen Rushing of Calmer, and gradulated from Woodlawn High School, Cleveland County.

He was employed for Smart Chevrolet of Pine Bluff, as Credit Manager.

He and his two children were members of Olive Street Baptist Church of Pine Bluff, Ark.

Survivors in addition to his parents was his wife, Lillian Robinson Rushing of Watson Chapel, three brothers, Ira Van (Jr) Owen, of Glendale, Owen Thomas Rushing, of Glendale, and David Rushing of Calmer, three Sisters; Thelma Rushing Morris of Woodlawn, Barbara A Rushing of Calmer, and Linda Rushing Newman of Glendale.

Funeral services for James Edward Rushing and his children, were conducted on Monday morning November 13, 1967, at Olive Street Baptist Church with Rev. Jackie Holt, and Kenneth Wafford.

Burial was in Holly Spring Cemetery, Hwy 54 E, Lincoln County, Star City, AR.

Pallbearers were: James Baker, Delbert Crain, John Ashcraft, Richard Bettison, Charles Wood, Benny Koonce, DeWayne Donaldson.
