Dr. Paul C. Glick, 95, of Arizona died Jan. 19, 2006, following a three-week struggle with pneumonia.

Dr. Glick was born on a farm near Columbus on Sept. 22, 1910, the son of Elmer and Mattie Glick. He married Joy Victoria Usher in 1938. She preceded him in death in 1983.

Dr. Glick earned a bachelor's degree in 1933 at DePauw University, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, earned a master's degree in 1935 and a doctorate in 1938 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, all in sociology. He served in World War II from 1944 to 1945.

His professional background includes: U.S. Census Bureau as a family analyst from 1939 to 1943 and from 1945 to 1948; chief of social statistics branch from 1949 to 1962; senior demographer from 1972 to 1981; adjunct professor of sociology at Arizona State University from 1982-1992; Silver Medal U.S. Department of Commerce-1953; Gold Medal-U.S. Department of Commerce T970; Fellow, American Public Health Association 1970; E.W. Burgess Award, National Council on Family Relations 1973; Stuart A. Rice Award, DC Sociological Society 1976; Award for a Career of Distinguished Contributions to the Practice of Sociology, American Sociological Association 1988; Fellow, American Statistical Association 1990; president of the Population Association of America 1966-67; chairman of the American Statistical Association 1977; president of the National Council on Family Relations, 1978-79; author of "American. Families" 1957, "Marriage and Divorce: A Social and Economic Study," with Hugh Carter 1976, "The Population of the United States of America" 1974, "The Population of the United States: Trends and Prospects, 1950 to 1990" 1974. Dr. Glick also was author of chapters in seven other books and had more than 100 articles published in professional publications.

He is survived by two sons, Paul Glick Jr., 1943, and David Glick, 1946; two grandchildren, Wendy Glick and Colleen Head; and two great-grandchildren, Jessica and Austin Turner. A memorial service was conducted Jan. 28 at Friendship Village in Tempe, Ariz.
