CHAPPELL, Kenneth R. - Of Lennon, age 78, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, February 16, 2008 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Kenneth was born in Hillman, Arkansas on October 25, 1929, the son of the late Frank and Daisy Chappell and was a resident of Clio for 42 years, before moving to Lennon. Kenneth married the love of his life, Thelma LaNell Prewitt on October 26, 1950 in Cotton Plant, Arkansas. Kenneth graduated from Cotton Plant High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Kenneth's love and passion was serving the Lord at Cornerstone Baptist Church as a Deacon and faithful member for many years. Kenneth enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. Kenneth retired from General Motors Fisher Body Coldwater Road in 1991 after 38 years of service and was a member of UAW Local #326. Surviving are wife, LaNell; 2 children, LaRae (Michael) Wing of Lennon and Val (Tina) of Gainesville, Virginia; 6 grandchildren, Jason (Rachel) Wing, Phillip (Amber) Wing, Kendon, Blake, Clayton and Paige Chappell; 3 great-grandchildren, Gibson, Maya and Reagan Wing; sister, Dorris Van Pelt; brothers, Donald (Virginia) and Aaron (Cynthia), all of Arkansas; many nieces, nephews and many other family members. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Audrey Chappell and Julia Davis.
