Andrew was the son of Andrew Dombroski and Petronella Wydrowska. He married Jennie May Rustay at Shickshinny, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, on November 30, 1909, and the couple had eight children: Charles Edward, Kathryn, John Andrew, twins Arthur and Arline, and three stillborn daughters.
