Verne L. Wilkes, 67, formerly of Harveys Lake and Edwardsville, died Thursday in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Claude and Rita Higgins Wilkes. He was a graduate of the Lake Noxen High School. Mr. Wilkes was a veteran of the United States Navy. For many years he worked as a self-contractor. Preceding him in death were several brothers and sisters.
