Glen was born May 19, 1938, at the family's farm home near Newell, Iowa, the son of Jens L. and Lillie (Nelsen) Pedersen. He was confirmed as a child at the Nain Lutheran Church in Newell and graduated from Newell High School with the Class of 1956.

On June 24, 1961, Glen was united in marriage to Janet Wise at the First Baptist Church in Newell. This union was blessed with four children: Randal, Wendy, Terry and Karla.

After high school, Skip worked as a depot agent for the Illinois Central Railroad and then enjoyed a 41-year career working at First Community Bank in Newell. He also served as the Newell City Clerk for 31 years, was a member of the Buena Vista Regional Healthcare Foundation board, was a Little League baseball coach and was an active member of the Nain Lutheran Church in Newell. He was currently a member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Marion, Iowa.

Skip and Janet enjoyed traveling, wintering in Arizona, attending sporting events and, most of all, attending their grandchildren's activities. Additionally, he enjoyed finances, the challenge of technology and was always a willing participant in a game of cards, bridge or marbles with family, friends and grandchildren. Skip always had a joke to share and his sense of humor will be missed.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 60 years, Janet Pedersen of Peoria, Arizona; children: Randy (Merri) Pedersen of Anthem, Arizona; Terry (Trudy) Pedersen of Newell, Iowa; Karla (Dennis) Koenen of Marion, Iowa; grandchildren: Wendy (Jesse) Haverkamp and their daughter Ashlyn of Johnstown, Colorado; Erik (Kristina) Pedersen of San Diego, California; Morgan, Keegan and Meredith Koenen of Marion, Iowa; sister: Gladys (Russell) Eddie of Storm Lake, Iowa; sister-in-law: Karen (Luke) Druivenga of New Market, Iowa; and many other nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
