The following obituary is from the minutes of the Indian Bottom Association of Old Regular Baptist, Fifty-Fourth Annual Session 1949:
It is with a sad feeling I will try to write an obituary of my dear old father Press Caudill. He was born Feb 1, 1877, deceased Nov 16, 1948. He was 71 Years, 9 Months and 16 days old. At an early age he married Susan Caudill and to this union was born 6 children, 3 boys and 3 girls, 4 of his children had outstripped him and gone on before and we hope they have gone to heaven.
His wife Susan Caudill, deceased the year 1909 and we hope her soul is resting in Heaven.
Father has been a hard working man all of his life, until he was stricken with a stroke about a year before his death.
He never did regain his health after he was stricken. He joined the Old Regular Baptist Church, on Oct 4, 1948 and was baptized Oct 8, 1948 by Rev Buddy Caudill. We sadly miss him in our home. He had two children, one boy and one girl, three brothers and a host of friends to mourn his loss. His daughter now living is Lulie Cornett of Gordon, Ky and son Johnnie Caudill of Banks, Ky. We hope our loss is heaven's gain.
