Elaine Frances Carlson was born February 12, 1930 in Britton, SD to Fritz and Emma (Rye) Carlson. She attended all her schooling in Britton and graduated from Britton High School in 1948.

On July 1, 1948 she married Norman Bergman in Britton. For the first three years of their marriage they made their home on a farm in Straubville, ND. While on the farm they welcomed their daughters, Barb and Donna. They would later move to Kindred, ND for a short period of time.

The family then moved to Britton in 1954 and would make that their home for the next couple of years. While living in Britton, a third daughter, Patty was born. In 1957 the family moved to Glen Lake, MN for four and half years. In Glen Lake, their fourth daughter, Debbie, joined the family. After leaving Glen Lake they moved to Wayzata, MN.

In 1969 they made their home in Parkers Prairie, MN for the next thirty years while Norman and Elaine were engaged in a dairy farming operation. Elaine truly felt happiest while on the farm and enjoyed her years helping Norman. Following their retirement, they moved to Britton and made that their final home. Norman passed away April 11, 2012.

In 2018 after falling and breaking her hip, Elaine started spending her time living with each daughter for a period of time. After a bad fall, it was best for Elaine to have a more permanent living situation where she could receive more help, and decided to move to Wheatcrest Hills in August 2021.

In her free time Elaine liked to read, do embroidery, bake and cook. She enjoyed a good card game and being part of card clubs in her younger years. She was happiest when spending time with family, friends and her dogs.

Elaine passed away Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Wheatcrest Hills in Britton, at the age of 92.

Grateful for having shared her life are her three daughters: Barbara (Dr. James K. B.) Collins of Cottage Grove, MN; Donna (Daniel) Bowman of Alexandria, MN; Debbie Hudalla of Eagle Bend, MN; eight grandchildren: Michael (Amber) Collins, Michelle (Mark) Lundin, Dr. Renee (Anthony) Zasada, Diana (Kurt) Waltzing, Jesse Bowman, Rob Hudalla, Rick Hudalla, and Jody Hudalla; 19 great-grandchildren; her siblings: Norman Carlson, Darlys Garske, and Marion (Orville) West; special fur baby, Bella; and several nieces, nephews and their families.
