Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Rita Moore Gibson and son of the late Adolphus Andrew Gibson and Addie Elizabeth Davis Gibson Ellison and stepson of the late Robert Ellison. He retired from Nestle, a U. S. Army veteran, and a member of Corinth Baptist Church. He loved his family, hunting, was a former softball player and avid Gaffney Indians fan.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, Danny Gibson, Donnie Gibson (Diana), both of Gaffney, and Dillon Gibson of the home; a stepson, Jeffrey Owens (Melissa) of Boiling Springs, SC; a brother, Tony Gibson (Janice) of Gaffney; three grandchildren, Kalie Scruggs (Clay), Hunter Gibson and Brody Gibson; two step-grandchildren, Makayla Owens and Brice Owens; two great-grandchildren, Holt Scruggs and Asher Scruggs, and one on the way; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother David Gibson and a sister, Linda Millwood.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at Corinth Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM at the Church with Dr. Dwight Easler and Dr. Larry Melton officiating. Interment, with military honors, will be in the El Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
