She was born on March 25, 1935 in Valders, WI, a daughter of the late Anton and Amanda (Schneider) Schuler.
Joan attended St. Mary's-Clarks Mills Grade School and graduated from Valders High School in 1953. Following high school, she attended Lakeshore Technical College in Cleveland for one year.
On September 26, 1953 she married Lawrence Moore. He preceded her in death in December of 1957.
On December 30, 1961 she married Edmund Schmitt at St. Mary's-Clarks Mills Church. He preceded her in death on March 12, 2022.
Joan worked for Family Service Association, Cleveland Restaurant, Bondes Quick Mart and at Lakeshore Technical College in the Home Care field.
She is a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth, past member of the Women's Cleveland Auxiliary VFW Post #8974 and the Cleveland Red Hat'ers and belongs to the Plymouth Ladewig-Zinkgraf Post # 243 VFW American Legion Auxillary.
Joan enjoyed knitting, playing sheepshead and canasta, cooking and baking, camping and spending time with her family.
Survivors include: Eight children: Gary (Patricia ) Moore of Glasco, NY, Dennis (Linda)Moore of Webster, NY, Gloria Shuba (special friend:Rob) of Fort Myers, FL, Steve Schmitt of Sheboygan, Wayne (Mary) Schmitt of Green Bay, Pat (Edward) Contreras of Crown Point, IN, Pam (Tom) Brink of Plymouth and Mary (Cory) Nennig of Plymouth; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; Brother: Kenneth (Karen) Schuler of Kiel; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by: Her parents: Anton and Amanda Schuler; Husbands: Lawrence and Edmund; and Her daughter: Carol Meyer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday morning (December 29, 2022) at 12:00 Noon at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth. Father Philip Reifenberg, Pastor of the Church will officiate. Burial will be at St. George Cemetery in Cleveland, WI.
Visitation will be at the CHURCH on Thursday (Dec. 29) from 10:00 A.M. until time of Mass.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Joan's name.
