Marie came to Montana from Canada in a covered wagon when she was 4 years old. The family briefly lived in Livingston, Bozeman and Missoula before settling in the Ronan area in 1931.
She married Irvin Decker on April 20, 1940, at the Lutheran Parsonage in Pablo. She was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith in 1942.
In 1947, she and her family moved to a farm in Round Butte, where they spent 10 years. In 1958, they moved to the North Crow area, where they finished raising their eight children. Marie and Irvin also took four foster children into their home to raise. After Irvin's death in 1997, Marie sold the farm and moved to Ronan, where she resided until her death.
Marie enjoyed gardening and tending her flowers. She especially enjoyed the family times spent together during the holidays or other special occasions. She was a superb cook and everyone in the family looked forward to one of mom's home-cooked meals.
Marie was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pablo and Ronan for more than 50 years. She was also a member of the North Crow Women's Club and the local TOPS organization.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Irvin; her parents, William and Hazel Arlint; sister, Mildred Black; and brothers, Howard and Allen Arlint. A brother, Ralph, died in infancy.
Marie is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Reum of Ronan; and sister-in-law, Betty Arlint of Kalispell. She is also survived by her children, Ted of Ronan, Robert (Fernie) of Hamilton, Gary (KaDe) of Arlee, Gale (Linda) of Ronan, Sue Heppner (Dan) of Polson, Faye Morgan (Dale) of Ronan, David (Julie) of Charlo and Kathy Loschieder (Jerry) of Goodyear, Ariz.; foster children Christina Matt (Vern) of Frenchtown, Danny Hunter of Ronan, Henry Hunter of Frenchtown and Jodi Ivins of Pablo.
