Hazel Bower Epperly, 92, of Shawsville, died early Sunday, March 26, 2000 in a Shawsville nursing home. She was preceded in death by her husband, W. L. (Bill) Epperly.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Frances Epperly of Christiansburg, Ray and Mary Epperly of Shawsville, Jerry and Remona Epperly of Lake Wylie, S.C.; seven grandchildren, David, Patricia, Mark, Michael, Nancy, Jerry and Lisa; four great-grandchildren, Felicia, Samuel, Ntasha, Teresa.
Mrs. Epperly was devoted to her family and anyone in the community whom she could help. She was a member of the White Memorial United Methodist Church for over 50 years where she was active in many areas of the church.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday from the Horne Funeral Chapel in Christiansburg, conducted by the Rev. Nancy Whiteley and the Rev. Jeri Bishop. Burial will follow in the St. Matthews Cemetery on Laurel Ridge. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to the White Memorial United Methodist Church, Shawsville, Va. or the Shawsville Rescue Squad, Box 14, Shawsville, Va. Friends may call at the funeral home anytime after 2 p.m. Monday and the family will receive friends there Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. The family is being served by Horne's in Christiansburg.
