Homer Emory "Eddy" Batten, 75, a longtime Alexandria resident, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 1991, in Mt. Vernon Hospital. Mr. Batten was born Aug 17, 1915, in Batesville, and had lived in that area until 1955. He then went to the Alexandria area and worked as a general contractor.
He was the son of the late James Monroe Batten and Lucie Gough Batten. He is survived by his wife, Ione Birckhead Batten of Alexandria, formerly of Proffit, two daughters, Gloria Dawn Johnson and Barbara Lynn Batten, and one son, Larry Arthur Batten, all of the northern Virginia area: and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Demaine Funeral Home, 520 S. Washington St., Alexandria, at 7 p.m. today. Interment will be at noon Saturday in Monticello Memory Gardens in Charlottesville.
