William was first married to Ella H. Harker, January 21, 1892, at Rewey, Iowa County, WI. They had a son, William Lyle Carpenter born, 20 Sep. 1894, Iowa County, Wisconsin.

William and Delia "Dell" O'Dowd were married 16 June 1903, Mineral Point, Iowa County, Wisconsin.
He died Sunday afternoon at his home of this city (Platteville). Besides his wife and little son, he is survived by his father, John Dean of Arthur where William was born and siblings, Mrs. Etta Jones of Darlington, WI; Mrs. Elsie Williams of Ipswich and John of Chicago, IL

* Will married Miss Della O'Dowd, a daughter of John and Mary J. (Parish) O'Dowd, 16 June 1903 Mineral Point, where Della was from. She was a school teacher in Rewey, Iowa Co., WI when they married. Their son was W. Lyle Carpenter. *His son's name was W. Lyle Carpenter. In 1900, Will and his young son resided with his widowed mother-in-law, Margaret A. Harker
** His widow, Della, remarried Sat, 17 July 1915 Chicago, Oliver "Bob" Holland who operated a farm in Newark, Kendall Col, IL. He died in August of 1916. She then married Charles Hauser, Charles and Della were married on:June 3, 1919 in Chicago, (Cook CO) Illinois
