James was known for his strong work ethic. He worked at Franklin for 34 years and very rarely missed a day of work. Also, him and his brother (Johnny) owned Allen Furniture. He would work there during the day and worked nights at Franklin. Even after retiring, he still worked hard, cutting wood and whatever else needed doing. He was known as "Mechanic Man" to his CB buddies. He loved being outdoors. James was a kindhearted man that dearly loved his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.
He is survived by his daughters, Stephanie Allen and Carrie Allen, both of Houston; his son, Eric Allen of Houston; his sisters, Janice Duncan (David) and Judy Barnett (Joe), both of Houston, his sister-in-law, Ellen Allen of Houston; his grandchildren, Jason McNease, Jayli "Lulu" McNease, Kayson Griffin, and Ryder Griffin; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Sue Allen; his brother, Johnny Allen, and his daughter, Jennifer K. Allen.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Southern Funeral Home in Houston. Brother Steve Lampkin will be officiating. Burial will follow in Macedonia Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Saturday, November 12 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Southern Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jason McNease, Jack Clark, Jr., James Griffin, Kevin Griffin, Johnny "Bubba" Allen, Jr., and Adam Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Criddle, Jimmy "Bobo" Pettit, Michael James, Bill Hamilton, Russel Lancaster, and Raymond Rowland.
