Larry James Gotte

Jennings: It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share with you that our father, brother, grandfather, and friend, Larry James Gotte passed away peacefully at home with the love of family and friends surrounding him on December 30, 2022, at the age of 79. Larry was born in Evangeline, LA on November 1, 1943, to Drazimone Gotte and Emea Doucet Gotte. He graduated valedictorian from Iota High School in the class of 1959, where he excelled academically and in sports. In his high school days, he played baseball, and ran track & field, where he won State Champion in the one-mile run. After his graduation Larry went on to work in the Oil and Gas Industry until retiring and was a great provider for his family. He had a joke and quick wit bout him and loved to make you laugh. In his spare time, he loved to coach a football game at Iota High School and dedicated most weekends to LSU or the Saints. He was a great cook and loved to BBQ with all his family and friends. When Larry wasn't working, he could often be found gallivanting around Evangeline with his ice chest in the back of his car. Larry was hardworking, a great father, grandfather, and a great friend, who was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Larry is survived by his children, Daren "Rat" Gotte, Veronica Lynnette Gotte, & Todd Roy all of Gotts Cove, LA; his grandchildren, Ashley Parsley, Travis Gotte, Danielle Gotte, Cameron Gotte, Aaron Miller, Gavin Roy, Kaighli Roy, & Brandon Miller; his great grandchildren, Adalynn, Alayna, Cloe, Bryson, Kalli, Marcella, Ruston, & Haisleigh; his godchild, Raven "Dinky" Gotte and his companion, Stacy Hebert, who Roach adored; his godson, Kevin; as well as a host of other relatives & friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Vanessa "Totsie" Miller; his grandson, Rusty James Miller; his brothers, Vernon Gotte, Merlin Gotte, Raven Gotte, Sr.; his sister, Susan Gotte.

A Celebration of Larry 's life will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Jennings, LA on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at 11:00 AM with Farther Paul LaFleur officiating. Burial will follow in Gotts Cove Cemetery.
