"Eliza Jane Eberhart was born in Orleans County, New York, Feb. 1, 1835. Died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. F. Leech, Oskaloosa, Kansas, Oct. 5, 1918. Age 88 years, 8 mos, 4 days.

In her early childhood she moved with her parents to Rock Island County, Illinois, where on May 25, 1850, she was married to Joseph Vandruff. In the year 1868 she removed in company with her husband and family to Jefferson county, Kansas, where she has since resided.

To them were born 8 children, four of whom survive her; Mary A. Leech of Oskaloosa, Kansas, James W. Vandruff of Topeka, Kansas, U. G. Vandruff of Oakley, Kansas, and Cathora Proud of LaHabra, California, also sixteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Joseph Vandruff, preceded her to their eternal home on November 7, 1901, where he with their four children who passed over before them have awaited her coming.

She was converted to the Christian religion and became a follower of the Saviour at the age of 12 years and joined the United Brethren church in Illinois. Later, removing to Kansas, she deposited her letter with the Methodist Episcopal Church of McLouth, Kansas, and on removing to Oskaloosa, was transferred to the M. E. Church here.

The funeral services were conducted in the Methodist Church by Pastor T. A. Nichols, assisted by Rev. Reld of the Presbyterian Church." Oskaloosa Independent, October 25, 1918
