Ellen Ruth Porter Assante passed {February 27,2022} after a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late Richard Polansky Porter, MD and her mother Ruth Holmes Porter., also a nurse practitioner.
Born in New Haven ,Ct. she was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, in a family who loved music, she studied piano and oboe, animals, travel,and foreign languages and eachother. She attended San Francisco State and UC Davis as a Russian/Science major then moved east to attend Simmons College of Nursing graduating as a Nurse Practitioner. She worked at McLean Psychiatric Hospital, Concord Academy, before moving to Maine where she began work at Maine Medical Center. Her Linkedin profile noted her as a Nurse Practitioner-Consultation Liaison Psychiatry at Maine Medical Center., Southern Maine Community College, Drexel University, Portland, Maine Metropolitan Area.
She is survived by her children Marc,{Mia Stucchi}, Philip,{Felicia Sawyer} and Sarah , seven grandchildren Dominic, Kashton, Hendrix, Sawyer, Octavia Assante ,Vincent and Adrien Stucchi and former husband Stephen Assante.
Also survived by her sisters Amy Porter {Chritopher Poss} CT., Carol Wallace and former husband Barry Wallace,CA. brother Philip Porter ,his former wife Tomoko Shimotomai, partner Cathy Famerin,CA. brother Nien Chen Tsai, late wife Weiling Chu, and wife Baolin,TX. .Nieces Nicene Shimotomai Porter, Hanna Wallace, Vivian Tsai LaChance {Christopher}, Nephews Ryuta Shimotomai Porter and Van Tsai. Cousins George Pratt { Barbara } and Sandra Pratt Silva.
She enjoyed running , her horses, all four footed friends, music bop and classical especially oboe music which her father played for many tears.
Recently she traveled back to California for her high school reunion and renewed friendships with her classmates. and for a best friend Melody's 70th birthday.
She will be missed by all who knew her. Donations may be made to your favorite charity.
A memorial is planned for later spring/summer.
