Flora was the daughter of John Ferguson (b1827 Maybole, Ayrshire, Scotland) and Maria Thompson (b1936 Ireland).

She married Thomas Allen in 1883 and they had five children:
- Walter Allen
- Sidney J Allen
- Winifred M (Allen) Manegold
- Raymond Allen
- Adelaide Mary (Allen) Bowrey

Flora died in 1925 at her son Ray's home in Tooting, and was buried with her husband at Morden Cemetery,
