Jordanian Statesman. He served as the Prime Minister of Jordan for two different tenures (May 30, 1993 - January 7, 1995) and September 9, 1997 - February 20, 1998) After receiving medical degrees from universities in Damascus and London, he worked as a doctor for several years before becoming director of medical services for the Jordanian Armed Forces in 1960. He went on to serve in this post until 1969. During the 1970s and 1980s, he served in various ministerial and educational posts. He also served as an advisor to King Hussein in the 1980s. In 1993, he became prime minister and went on to serve until 1995, when he resigned. During his tenure, he signed the 1994 Israel-Jordan treaty. He went on to serve a second tenure as prime minster from 1997 to 1998.
