Vincent Hines was born in 1912 in the Brewerytown section of Philadelphia to Vincent DePaul Hines and Agnes Mahoney. His siblings included:

In the late 1920s the Hines family moved to 1813 Medary Ave.in the Mt.Airy section of Phila.which is in the St.Benedicts R.C. parish. Vincent had entered LaSalle University in 1928. Not long after that, the Depression broke out. Vincent was forced to drop out of college and work to help his family who had suffered many financial hardships at that time. They lost their home in Mt. Airy in 1930 and moved back to Brewerytown section with his maternal grandfather, John Mahoney at 2817 Poplar Street. When things got better, the Hines family purchased the house next door at 2815 Poplar Street. Like his father, he went to work for the Phila.newspapers like the Ledger,Record and the Bulletin newspapers. Eventually he became Superintendent and was placed in charge of the entire mailroom. Vince served in the Army in World War II(Pacific Theater)When Vincent's father passed away suddenly in 1945 he was stationed in the Pacific and his Commander would not grant him Leave to go back home for the Funeral. When Vince was 38 years old, he married school teacher, Dorothy Kephart. They had two sons, David and Paul. David married Loretta Simeone and they had two children: Melissa and David. Paul Hines married Lucy Buchen and their children are Eleanor and Kevin. In 1983 Vincent Hines received a book on the Fogarty Family(maternal ancestors) from a distant cousin, Joseph Quinn. That book provided a great deal of information about the Fogarty Family of Castlecomer, Kilkenny, Ireland, from which Vincent was descended.
