Doris Bailey Batten, 95, of Lebanon, died Thursday, March 30, 2006, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon.
Born in Boone County on Jan. 17, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Mason and Amanda Jane (Abston) Johnson. On Nov. 17, 1932, in Boone County, she married Ralph Eldon Bailey, who died March 29, 1959. On Oct. 7, 1972, in Lebanon, she married Robert Franklin Batten, who survives.
A life-resident of Boone County, she lived most of her life in Lebanon. Following the death of her first husband, she worked in the dental office of Dr. Gary French. She also worked at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon as a switchboard operator. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. Batten enjoyed her family. In addition, she enjoyed flowers, crocheting, knitting and she liked to play cards (bridge and euchre).
Memberships include Central Christian Church in Lebanon and Lebanon Senior Citizens.
Also surviving is a daughter and her husband, a son and his wife, 3 step-sons, 2 step-daughters-in-law, a step-daughter and her husband, 11 grandchildren, 5 grandchildren-in-law, and 4 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Services are 1 p.m. Monday at Myers, the Rev. Dale Matherly officiating. Interment follows at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Boone County.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
