Dick passed away peacefully, Friday, December 23, 2022, at Edward Hospital. He was born May 12, 1939, in Melrose Park, IL to his late parents, Alfred Schaper and Helen Hofmann. Cherished husband of Dolores M. Schaper, nee Parrilli, wedded on February 5, 1966. Beloved dad of Laurie (Eric) Schwarz of Batavia, IL and Susy (fiance, Scott Young) Schaper of Phoenix, AZ. Adored grandpa Emma, Amy, and Hannah Schwarz. Dick graduated from Proviso East, Class of 1957 and attended University of Illinois. He enlisted into the Marine Corps after college and spent 4 years. After serving his country, Dick had many jobs but soon found his calling working for Xerox Company as a repair technician, retiring after more than 30 years of service. Dick had many hobbies including the Chicago Corvette Club, which includes his prized 2011 C6 Grand Sport. He was also a member of the Palos RC Fliers Club, where he enjoyed numerous hours flying radio controlled airplanes. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Glioblastomafoundation.org. Visitation was Tuesday, January 3rd, from 4:00-8:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, IL 60540. Mass of Christian Burial was Wednesday, January 4th, 10:30 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1500 Brookdale Rd., Naperville, IL 60563. Intered at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
